Bethany Christian Services YouthBuild and Center for Community Transformation
The Grand Rapids Center for Community Transformation is a partnership between businesses and Non-profit organizations to create opportunities for transformation through meaningful relationships, work, education, and community revitalization with a focus on developing young adults, ages 14 to 24.
Housed within the center, YouthBuild is a 7-month program that offers GED/High School Diploma assistance, vocational training, and personal development. Staff and volunteers support students through pre-apprenticeship certification training (PACT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), first aid and CPR training. Construction skills are also taught to the students through classroom and practical instruction. The instruction exposes students to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, masonry, plumbing, facility maintenance, deconstruction, remodeling and green construction.
