More than 200 prisoners inside the Richard A. Handlon Correctional Facility are taking part in a new vocational program to help them get jobs on the outside. In the Vocational Village, prisoners attend full day classes and hands-on training. At full capacity there will be 165 vocational trade students, 27 vocational trade tutors, 12 building trade workers and 110 Calvin College students who will receive their Bachelor’s of Science degrees in Ministry Leadership. The programs offered include carpentry, plumbing, electrical, computer numerical control (CNC)/Machine Tool, automotive technology, and welding.
