In 1988, the Home Builders Association Foundation was formed to make an impact on the lives of those with special housing needs and to support the development of the next generation of housing industry professionals. Foundation Links
The Home Builders Association of Greater Grand Rapids (HBAGGR) members include a variety of award-winning and innovative builders, designers and residential trades service professionals – all located in West Michigan. These caring, kind, and passionate individuals are also dedicated to the communities they serve. Throughout the Foundation’s 28 year history, members pulled together to construct a wide variety of projects, despite an economic downturn. More than 600 wheelchair ramps and critical electrical, plumbing, and home repairs have been completed through Community Repair Days, a unique partnership with the Home Repair Services of Kent County and Disability Advocated. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in lumber, nails, and other building materials are donated annually while members volunteer their time to construct the ramps and complete the repairs. The HBA Foundation continues to empower the next generation. Whether they are looking to go into the skilled trades, work for a builder, or own their own company, the support and tools to get started will be there. We know the residential construction industry is a great place to make a mark on the world. Since 1990, members have awarded more than $150, 000 in scholarships. We encourage you to join us in making a difference in the lives of those facing special housing needs and in reaching out to the next generation of housing industry professionals.
Partnership Opportunities: If you are interested in making a difference in our community we encourage you to join us in our mission. There are several ways you can help. -Serve on a Home Builders Association Foundation Committee. -Donate materials, labor, and/or financial support towards a specials needs housing project. -Get involved with our Next Gen efforts https://hbafoundationgr.com/2017/09/05/next-generationworkforce-development/ -Give to our next generation housing industry professional’s scholarship fund. -Consider a next generation housing industry graduate for employment. -Attend, sponsor, and/or donate an item, service or experience to our annual Home & Hearth Benefit event. -Make a financial contribution to our general fund so we can meet the unique needs of our grantees as they make them known to us. -Host a fundraising event on behalf of the Home Builders Association Foundation through your employer, school, church, or other organization.
